Magic is dangerous—but love is more dangerous still.

When sixteen-year-old Tessa Gray crosses the ocean to find her brother, her destination is England, the time is the reign of Queen Victoria, and something terrifying is waiting for her in London's Downworld, where vampires, warlocks and other supernatural folk stalk the gaslit streets. Only the Shadowhunters, warriors dedicated to ridding the world of demons, keep order amidst the chaos.

Kidnapped by the mysterious Dark Sisters, members of a secret organization called The Pandemonium Club, Tessa soon learns that she herself is a Downworlder with a rare ability: the power to transform, at will, into another person. What’s more, the Magister, the shadowy figure who runs the Club, will stop at nothing to claim Tessa's power for his own.

Friendless and hunted, Tessa takes refuge with the Shadowhunters of the London Institute, who swear to find her brother if she will use her power to help them. She soon finds herself fascinated by—and torn between—two best friends: James, whose fragile beauty hides a deadly secret, and blue-eyed Will, whose caustic wit and volatile moods keep everyone in his life at arm's length . . . everyone, that is, but Tessa. As their search draws them deep into the heart of an arcane plot that threatens to destroy the Shadowhunters, Tessa realizes that she may need to choose between saving her brother and helping her new friends save the world. . . . and that love may be the most dangerous magic of all.

Review:

Cassandra Clare is a literary genius! I loved Clockwork Angel! This book is amazing, just like the rest of her books. :)
Though, as much as I loved this book, I couldn't help but dislike some characters, namely; SOPHIE. Yes, her she's going to ruin everything and I hate her.
Enough with the hate let's get back to the review. :) (My apologies)
Tessa is a strong and independent character, she was able to build a foundation by herself and she didn't seek help doing so. I really like her independence and confidence when she does certain acts. :) She has to be my most favorite heroine of all time! ;)
Will, ahhh the brooding and sexy William Herondale. For those of you who are already familiar with Miss Clare's work you would know that he is related to Jace. Both are sexy, sarcastic and has a way with women. Those aren't the only characteristics they share, but I'll leave the others for when you read the book. :) Whenever I read Will's lines I can't help but laugh put loud at his sarcasm. :)
Jem, the sweetest guy ever and the most loyal companion. :) To me he is the perfect guy. :"> I felt really sad when I read about what had happened to his family but without that incident Jem wouldn't be the person he is now. Even though he is my most favorite character I still prefer Will for Tessa. (Sorry, Jem)
I found this book very powerful and compelling, especially with it's Victorian setting. (I mean, have you ever heard of a book with a Victorian setting that has demons and vampires? I don't think so. This a wonderful read! :))
All in all this is a FREAKING AMAZING book! Cassandra Clare, as I have already said, is a GENIUS! I love her! :) Now, I only have to wait for April and September. :)
Cassandra Clare deserves an award for this wonderful book!
Even my friends are fighting over on who's going to borrow it first! :)

  1. I LOVED this one as well, I'm always a sucker for the sarcastic boys so I had to love Will. Can't wait for book 2, that epilogue was killer.

  2. Jenny, it totally was! :) Cassie has a way of making her readers want more, by writing really evil endings.

Awesome book. Still think about it long into the night for weeks after I've finished it, and will continue to do so for weeks forthcoming.
